About

I'm a certified drone and FPV pilot in Mallorca, with over 18 years as a camera operator in television, live broadcast and sports production. My background covers nearly every technical role on set – broadcast camera, jib, sound, lighting and floor management – which means I understand a production from the ground up before I ever put anything in the air.

Today I specialise in aerial cinematography — aerial filming, drone video and drone photography, FPV and conventional — working across LaLiga football, live shows, motorsport and corporate productions throughout the Balearic Islands and mainland Spain.

I am Sebastián Martorell, a drone and FPV pilot based in Palma de Mallorca, registered as an operator with AESA, with EASA A1/A3, A2 and STS certificates, an aeronautical radio operator licence and public liability insurance in force. I offer four services: drone and FPV integrated into live broadcasts, sport and events; flight planning and aeronautical management, with airspace assessment, coordination with ENAIRE and AESA authorisations before a date is fixed; aerial photo and video for property and construction; and aerial images of boats, regattas and the coast. I work across Mallorca and the other Balearic Islands, and on mainland Spain and in Europe for projects that warrant it. Footage is delivered as selected raw material or edited, with usage rights transferred on completion of payment. I do not carry out technical inspection, thermography, surveying or photogrammetry. Contact is by WhatsApp or email to check availability.

FPV shots in demanding environments

Motorsport, sport and action: the drone comes in when the mix calls for it, not when it happens to be ready.

Drone and FPV services

Drone and FPV for multi-camera broadcasts and events. One more aerial camera inside your production, flown by a pilot with 18 years in live television who knows what a signal that cannot fail means.

Operations and permits before the flight plan is set. Before the flight plan is set, you need to know whether you can fly, where, and with which permit. That work is mine, and you get the answer before you fix a date.

Aerial photo and video to show properties, developments and the visual progress of building work. A property makes sense from the air: the plot, the surroundings, the access and the sea if there is one. And a building site is easier to explain with the same shot repeated every month.

Aerial images of boats, regattas and days at sea for editorial, commercial or production content. A boat under way sells from the air. Regattas, sea trials, charter and editorial content on the Mallorca coast.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I book?

It depends on the location. For a shoot in an area with no airspace restrictions, a week is usually enough – sometimes less, depending on availability. If the location falls within controlled airspace, near an airport or heliport, in a protected natural area or in a built-up area, I need more lead time to arrange coordination or prior authorisations, and those timescales are not in my hands. The sooner you send me the exact location and date, the sooner I can confirm whether it is feasible and how much margin we really have.

What happens if the weather is bad on the shoot day?

The drone has safety limits – wind, rain, visibility – that are not negotiable: if they are exceeded, it does not fly. We assess whether to postpone together, with the forecast in hand, and if conditions on site are not safe the call to stand down is mine as pilot in command.

The shoot is rescheduled at no cost to the first available alternative date, and only costs already incurred are passed on, such as travel already made or permits already paid.

Do you bring your own equipment or does the production provide it?

I work with my own equipment – drone, cameras, batteries and cards – maintained and calibrated, and I am a registered operator with current public liability insurance. If the production needs a specific technical requirement, such as a particular sensor, mount or format, we assess it and I quote the rental or subcontracting of that equipment separately.

Who owns the footage and how do you deliver it?

I work with two options. The raw package is the selected uncut material – I discard failed takes – in native format or whichever we agree. The edited package includes editing and post-production, quoted according to scope.

Delivery is by download link or drive, and the timescale is set in the quote according to the volume of material and the scope of the edit.

Usage rights for the agreed purpose transfer once payment is complete. I retain the right to use excerpts in my portfolio and showreel, except on projects under a confidentiality agreement.

How long does a flight permit take in controlled airspace?

The term controlled airspace covers several different situations – the vicinity of an airport, a restricted UAS geographical zone, coordination with the airspace manager, an operational authorisation – and each route has its own timescale. As soon as you give me the exact location I check which one applies and confirm the real timescale for your case before we fix a date.

Do you work outside the Balearics, and how is travel billed?

Yes, I work on the other islands and on mainland Spain for projects that warrant it. Travel is billed separately and transparently: within my base island it is included; for inter-island or mainland work, transport, accommodation and per diems are passed on at cost, plus a travel day if the journey takes a full day. Everything is itemised in the quote, with no surprises.

Do you cover all of Mallorca with the drone?

Yes: all of Mallorca and the other islands, based in Palma.
